BB2.9-Laboratory Testing – Components

Ole Martin Løvvik

  • Description

Climatic chamber for ageing, conditioning samples and perform tests at different temperature and humidity conditions.
Climatic tests are carried out to evaluate the type and degree of deterioration that a material can suffer (metal, polymer, paint or coating, cellulose and paper,…), component or product subjected to thermal or extreme climatic conditions.
Salt spray tests, cyclic corrosion tests and tests to verify the corrosivity of a paint system and to simulate extreme corrosive environments in order to compare the resistance of materials and/or their coatings to corrosion.
Climatic tests allow determining the influence of temperature and humidity on the properties, functionality and durability of the products.
Environmental testing and fire testing can be performed by Indoor air quality testing, Climate chamber, Capillary suction, Tracer gas test, Rain chamber, Water bath, Carbonation chamber, Chloride chamber, Cone calorimeter, Single burning item, Single flame source test.

  • Innovation features

The climatic chamber leverages state-of-the-art technology to simulate a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions. Its advanced sensors, data processing, and adherence to rigorous standards ensure precision. The ability to test unique configurations and prolonged exposure scenarios positions it as a leading-edge solution for diverse industries.

Pricing

Case by Case
Expected cost: Climatic tests prize from 2 €/hour to 4 €/hour depending on the climatic chamber.
Additional costs: Installation and removal of test samples,
Technician support during experiments,
Data processing, analysis, expert opinion, and recommendations by experts,
Additional sensors and monitoring systems according to the client's special desires (if applicable).
Pricing: Depending on the task
POLITO - Environmental testing: consumables: fixed cost 1-2 keuro; monthly cost of facility : 1-2 keuro (operation and maintenance, depending on lengh of test and additional sensors); 1PM (4.5 keuro) equivalent (testing); Cost per test depends on duration of specific test (i.e. one day could be in the order to 200-400 € /day total based on costs above)

Service delivery timeframe

Climate tests results can often be obtained within a few days to a week, depending on the scope of the testing and the number of samples. However, in some cases it is necessary to test the samples from days to several months, as for instance in temperature ageing tests, which can last on the order of even years depending on the exposure temperature. In these cases, scheduling is required due to the high demand of climatic chambers.
